About this piece

Freehand No. 28 is a one-of-a-kind meerschaum pipe, carved by hand at the White Earth Atelier workshop in Eskişehir, Türkiye.

The form is shaped around the freehand motif, worked in relief from the solid block.

This piece is documented in 11 unedited photographs so the carving, the grain and any natural marks in the stone can be judged before you inquire.

Every piece in this catalogue is cut from genuine block meerschaum, a hydrous magnesium silicate mined near Eskişehir. It is soft enough to take fine detail when freshly worked and hardens as it dries, which is what allows undercut carving to survive at all. Pressed meerschaum, made from bonded offcuts, cannot hold it. How block and pressed differ.

Availability and delivery

This is a one-of-a-kind piece. Availability is confirmed personally before any payment is discussed; messaging the atelier does not reserve or purchase it. Shipping is quoted per destination once the country is known, because import rules for this category vary and the atelier confirms it can fulfil an order before accepting one. What that involves for an international buyer.
