The shapes a pipe maker returns to. Classic bowls, freehand growth, basket weave and calabash, where the material leads and ornament stays quiet.

Relief carving in the round. Claws, beasts and creatures cut deep into the block, where the bowl becomes the body of the thing.

The human face and form. Bearded sultans, knights, seafarers and reclining figures, carved by hand in white earth.

Pattern and meaning. Vine, tulip and leaf work, lattice cut through to the light, and the compasses and square of the lodge.
