This meerschaum pipe was cut from a single block of genuine Turkish meerschaum and finished by hand in Eskişehir, Türkiye.
The calabash subject is worked across the bowl, with mahogany detailing carried around the piece.
Block meerschaum is a hydrous magnesium silicate mined near Eskişehir. It is soft enough to take fine detail when freshly worked and hardens as it dries, which is why this kind of relief carving is possible at all.
